About us

Who we are

Established in 1980, the King’s Cross Brunswick Neighbourhood Association (KCBNA) is the community’s response to the needs of residents of the King’s Cross and Brunswick Wards of the London Borough of Camden.  KCBNA became a registered charity in 1990, and a company limited by guarantee.

The philosophy is to build a sense of community in this deprived inner city area, embracing all ages and cultures working with the local communities to provide much needed services and support through a wide range of projects delivered by our staff team and volunteers from our community facilities and across the area.  KCBNA is multi-disciplined, working in such diverse areas as, Health promotion; Community Development; work with Older people including a lunch club; Women's Groups; News Letters; Bengali Groups; Children and Young People.  KCBNA operates a cradle to the grave philosophy; thus the worker employed will be involved in the wider community issues that affect children, young people, adults and older people.

The need for youth provision is paramount to the personal and social development of young people in an inner city area such as King’s Cross. King’s Cross is an area with a history of problems related to poverty, crime and deprivation.

KCBNA is very committed to ensuring that we work with both young people and their families by providing provision such as educational, health and recreational needs in view of some if the social problems many of service users face in their everyday life.  Through our interaction we encourage young people to participate in our vast range of activities and support them in their journey from adolescent to adulthood by giving them a positive experience.

The KCBNA Youth Team has a track record of providing a quality service to local young people.  This has included organising group activities, residentials, project work and one-off events; all this work is under-pinned by developing good relationships with young people.

We have a very ambitious plan to refurbish and expand our youth centre and you will be a key person in developing relationships with corporate businesses and funders whilst leading the fundraising campaign working with the Chief Executive, fundraiser and the KCB Board.

Our culture and values

The things that we value as an organisation include:

·      All people from the local communities in King’s Cross and neighbouring areas irrespective of religion, ethnicity, sexuality, disability, gender or age

·      The positive aspects of our local communities and their cultures

·      The active participation of local residents, businesses and community groups and the contributions they can make to our organisation, our environment, and our community

·      Quality services provided in a flexible and adaptable manner that meet the needs of local residents

·      Encouraging local residents’ active involvement and participation in decision-making processes

·      Respect for the principles of tolerance, honesty, integrity, trust and decency

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

KCBNA has a very diverse staff team. We actively encourage people from a variety of backgrounds with different experiences, skills, and stories to join us and influence and develop our working practice. We recognise the value a diverse workforce brings to the charity, and we are especially keen for people currently underrepresented in our charity and the wider sector to apply.

KCBNA is an equal opportunities employer and as such welcomes applications from candidates regardless of their race, religion, sexual orientation, family status, disability status or offending background.’
