Dance Britain for Burma is the 2012 fundraising and awareness-raising campaign of LearnBurma, using dance as a symbol of the freedoms we have but those in Burma haven't to open young people's eyes to the situation there. Our 2011 campaign 'Free to Dance' took the form of a world record for the world's longest ever dance, and involved 50 schools, 10,000 students and 25,000 dancers.
LearnBurma itself is a uk-registered charity (number 1139662) and company limited by guarantee (number 7368015) which aims to open the eyes of a million young people to Burma, enabling them learn the skills to investigate, debate and evaluate the situation - and the confidence to make up their own minds about what they can do about it. It does this through its three interlocking strands of work: awareness-raising, training and international school linking.
