About us
Who we are
We support NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year.
We are the charity of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. We support NHS staff to deliver the best care for over a million patients and their families each year.
We’re the charity that champions, supports and gives thanks to the NHS. Bringing together thousands of donors so we can make a real difference for the people and patients of Yorkshire.
We do this by funding life-saving equipment, treatments, research into rare diseases and home comforts – whatever will make the biggest impact to the people who need it most.
Let's do good together.
Our culture and values
Our vision for Leeds Hospitals Charity is for Leeds Teaching Hospitals to be the best hospital, in the healthiest city in the UK.
We exist to support NHS staff across all eight of the Trust’s hospital sites, helping them to deliver first-class care for over a million patients and their families each year.
When it’s your loved one in hospital, you want the very best care, equipment, training and research informed treatment to be available for them – and so do our NHS staff.
Donations from our supporters and generous legacies make that possible, allowing us to award grants all year round to fund the extra things that enhance the incredible care already provided.
Funding is delivered through our six priority areas: Equipment, Research, Education, Health & Wellbeing, Environment and Specialist Staff.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At Leeds Hospitals Charity, people are central to everything we do. Our home city of Leeds is multicultural, and we embrace its diversity. Difference is to be celebrated, it inspires innovation and makes us stronger. For us equity, diversity, and inclusion are fundamental principles. They underpin our goal to support the communities of Leeds Teaching Hospitals. For us, equity means providing our services in ways that can be accessed easily and that works for the people who need them. It means providing the opportunity for our staff to fulfil their potential, free from discrimination.
Diversity means that we recognise the value of difference and the benefits of our staff, Trustees, volunteers, and fundraisers being representative of the people we support. We are proud to be part of such a multicultural city and we will further our efforts to reach out to all the communities within it.
Being inclusive shows that we value people as individuals; that our staff can be themselves without fear of discrimination, harassment, or victimisation. It means we welcome, value and care about all the people who need our support.
