Who we are
The animal welfare charity was founded in 1956 and accommodates relinquished, unwanted and abandoned cats and dogs within a 4.5 acre purpose built rehoming centre in the village of Huncote, Leicestershire. Animals are cared for by a professional, qualified and experienced animal care team, supported by excellent veterinary services. The charity also has a community outreach scheme, providing support to vulnerable pet owners to help them to keep their cherished animal companion with them in their own homes.
Our culture and values
The charity's founder, Dorothea Farndon, believed in a better life for animals without homes. Through her kindness, compassion and determination, she didn't just start a rehoming centre - she built a community. A community shaped by a shared belief in caring for the vulnerable, offering new beginnings, and creating a kinder world for animals.
The charity provides care for up to 30 cats and 34 dogs at any one time.
