Who we are

Letchworth Foodbank provides emergency food and practical support to people facing hardship across the SG postcode area of Hertfordshire, specifically in Letchworth, Hitchin, and Baldock. Working with our Foodbank Director and dedicated team of volunteers, referral agencies, churches, community organisations, and the Trussell network, we seek to ensure that everyone receives support with dignity and compassion.

Letchworth Foodbank was established 14 years ago by a dedicated team of volunteers, many of whom are still involved today. We are powered by an incredible team of 70 volunteers working across our welcome centres, warehouse, and support team. In 2025, we recruited a part-time Foodbank Director to support the running of the charity. We are now seeking to grow the team to enable us to establish a resilient, efficient, and sustainable organisation that can respond to the growing and changing needs of those facing hunger and hardship in our community.

Since April 2026, usage of the foodbank has risen by 29%. Last year, we provided 3,723 food parcels to those facing a crisis; if current growth continues, we expect to provide over 4,800 parcels this year. With the continued rise in food and fuel costs, this is very likely.
