About us
Who we are
LRMN's mission is to empower refugees and migrants to thrive, make a positive contribution, integrate and take control of their own lives.
We offer free, independent and confidential advice and information on immigration, benefits, health and housing in Lewisham and neighbouring boroughs.
We provide counselling and therapeutic support to refugee and asylum seeking women who are survivors of trauma, often gender-based. This includes trafficking, domestic violence, rape, forced marriage, female genital mutilation (FGM) and others.
LRMN is also active in advocating for change and campaigning against policies that affect our clients' quality of life and their ability and opportunity to integrate in their community and UK society.
We provide emergency food, clothes and cash to clients who have no recourse to public funds.
We have a team of committed and competent staff, volunteers and trustees from a range of backgrounds and expertise.
Our culture and values
Our values
Collaborative – We know we are stronger together. We will involve the people we serve, our team and our partners in designing and delivering our work.
Refugee and Migrant Justice – rights and justice primarily for refugees and migrants are at the heart of everything we do.
Integrity – We will be honest and do the right thing
Equity, Diversity and Inclusion – We are committed to building a community that removes barriers, embraces people from all backgrounds and provides opportunities for them to rebuild their lives.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At LRMN we are committed to building an equitable and inclusive organisation where diversity is valued in every aspect of our work and where everyone – our clients, staff and volunteers can be their authentic self and fulfil their potential. We seek to live our values in the way we work with clients and how we operate as a charity – keeping diversity and inclusion front and centre.
Our EDI working group meet regularly to monitor progress on EDI initiatives, reflect on good practice, and make improvements and recommendations.
LRMN is a disability confident employer and is committed to inclusive and accessible recruitment and guarantee an interview to all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the role. We are also committed to ongoing workplace adjustments and support for colleagues who need them.
We welcome applications from people with lived experience and underrepresented groups and recognise that lived experience brings valuable insight.
We respect that people’s identity is not defined by their past experiences and do not expect candidates to describe their lived experience during the interview process unless they wish to do so
