About us

Who we are

Step into Lifeskills – Where Safety Education Comes Alive!

At Lifeskills, we don’t just teach safety – we bring it to life! Children step into our purpose-built indoor village and experience everyday hazards in a safe, interactive way. From homes and shops to beaches, parks, and even a railway line, our guided tours let children explore, learn, and practice life-saving skills that last a lifetime.

We’re passionate about empowering young people to make safer choices.

Children are guided around the centre and get hands-on experience with crossing roads, learning first aid, calling emergency services, and understanding the dangers of online risks, knife crime, and drugs. It’s fun, practical, and builds confidence that lasts a lifetime.

For 26 years, Lifeskills has been trusted by schools, families, and communities across the region. And we couldn’t do it without our amazing volunteers – the heart of our life-saving mission.

Join us, make a difference, and help shape safer futures!

Our culture and values

At Lifeskills, we believe every child deserves the knowledge, confidence, and skills to stay safe in everyday life. We are committed to making safety education engaging, practical, and memorable through hands-on, immersive experiences that reflect real-life situations.

We believe learning is most effective when it is interactive, supportive, and fun. By encouraging children to think for themselves, spot risks, and practise safe decision-making, we help them build independence and resilience that lasts beyond the classroom.

Our ethos is rooted in inclusivity, kindness, and collaboration. We value our volunteers as individuals, providing personalised training, flexibility, and a warm, supportive environment where everyone feels welcome and appreciated.

Together with our volunteers, schools, and communities, we work to make a genuine, lasting difference, helping children grow into confident, safety-aware young people.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

At Lifeskills, we are committed to fairness, equality, and respect for everyone. We actively oppose discrimination in all its forms and work to create a welcoming, inclusive environment for our volunteers, visitors, and staff. People who engage with Lifeskills come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, ethnicities, ages, and identities, and we value the unique perspectives this diversity brings. We are inclusive of all races, genders, ages, and identities, and we believe everyone should feel safe, respected, and supported. By treating people fairly and with dignity, we ensure Lifeskills remains a positive, accessible, and empowering place for all.
