About us
Who we are
Longfield Hall Trust (LHT) manages the historic Longfield Hall, in Camberwell. We're a classic community/village hall but have the added twist of also being a historic small-scale performance venue. We were home to the first publicly funded Black Theatre company, in the UK, Dark & Light Theatre and are proud of our blue plaque celebrating this.
These days, we offer a range of free drama, yoga, dance and music sessions for older people at risk of exclusion and weeklly and holiday drama activities for young people. We have just been awarded funding to run a Memory Cafe. We are doing this in partnerhsip with Age-Exchange and expect to launch the full-day project in September 2025.
Our culture and values
Longfield Hall Trust is a small registered charity and company limited by guarantee. We are rooted in our local community. All our trustees live close to the hall and the bulk of our 1,500 weekly users either walk or cycle to the hall.
We're inclusive, tolerant and open-minded. We want to experiment with new services and ways of working.
We are moving from being a volunteer-led organisation to one that is run by paid, professional staff.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Longfield Hall is in the London Borough of Lambeth and all our services and operating practices have to meet the standards set by Lambeth's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion policies.
