About us
Who we are
Mustard Tree is a Greater Manchester charity that creates opportunities for people and communities to help themselves through practical support, life skills, and connections into work. We provide:
- Food, furniture, and clothing - to help people out of hardship
- Education, training, and work placements - to increase individual incomes
- 1-2-1 support, advice, and advocacy - to help people into better homes, better health, and better finances
- Creative clubs and classes - to increase community, recovery, and wellbeing
This holistic, wrap-around approach gives people the dignity, confidence, and tools they need to build themselves back up.
How do we serve our community?
In February 2025 alone, we welcomed over 10,000 visitors, our busiest month in our 30+ year history, despite being the shortest month of the year. We registered 461 new clients and supported 448 people through appointments, triage, crisis-donations, and advocacy. For comparison, we delivered 33 support appointments in February 2023 and 241 in February 2024 - a 13x rise in demand over two years. We also provided 61 new Tenancy Packages, helping people settle into safe, furnished homes - the highest number since July 2024. Our Freedom Project saw 29 new participants join, while 10 trainees graduated from the programme with a celebration of cakes, treats and speeches. Our arts programme in Salford ran several workshops, exhibitions and pop-ups, supporting community cohesion and creative recovery.
