Naval Children's Charity

Who we are

The Naval Children's Charity provides financial and holistic support to children, aged 0 - 25, of those serving or former serving personnel of the Royal Navy (including Royal Marines, QARNNS, WRNS, Reserves and Royal Fleet Auxiliary).  Grants are given for such items ranging from groceries, laptops and household goods to disability equipment, therapies and educational support.

Our culture and values

The Naval Children’s Charity, established in 1825, has been supporting children of Naval families for two centuries. If you are a current or former member of the Naval Service (Royal Navy, Royal Marines, QARNNS, WRNS, Reserves, or Royal Fleet Auxiliary) with a child or children up to the age of 25, we may be able to provide assistance.

Our main office is located in Portsmouth, with outreach workers in Helensburgh and Plymouth, supporting families across the UK and anywhere they are globally. With a dedicated Trustee Board and a Youth Council helping to guide and inform our work, we continuously seek new ways to support Naval Children.

We collaborate closely across the Naval, Armed Forces, Charity and wider sector to swiftly and efficiently deliver aid to children in need. Our original orphanages were sold back in the 1990s and the money invested in a Fund which covers our operating costs which ensures that your donations and grants directly benefit a Naval child.

Annually, we support approximately 2000 children directly, either in times of crisis or through our Life Chances Programme, alongside providing free resources to many more. We partner and collaborate to ensure that our children are getting the appropriate, targeted support.

Our mission is to support the wellbeing and development of children and young people from Naval families in recognition of the unique situations they and their families face.

Our vision is that every Naval child has their spirit and talent unlocked, giving them a brighter future and helping them to realise their full potential.
