About us
Who we are
North Paddington Foodbank (NPFB) is the UK’s first and only full cash-first foodbank, leading the way with a revolutionary approach to tackling poverty. Alongside providing food and essential items, we empower our service users by offering emergency cash grants, enabling them to regain control over their finances while accessing holistic support. Our mission is to go beyond emergency food aid by addressing the root causes of poverty through advice on welfare benefits, debt relief, housing, and more.
We work closely with local communities and partner organisations to ensure that individuals and families in Westminster receive the financial help, guidance, and advocacy they need to improve their lives. By combining compassionate support with innovative cash-first solutions, NPFB strives to reduce poverty and inequality in one of the UK’s most deprived areas.
Our culture and values
At North Paddington Foodbank (NPFB), we believe in dignity, empowerment, and community. Our core values revolve around putting people first, providing not only immediate support but also long-term solutions to poverty. We are passionate about challenging inequality and creating a world where everyone has access to the resources they need to thrive.
Our culture is inclusive, collaborative, and compassionate. We work as a close-knit team, embracing diversity and equity in everything we do. We actively listen to the needs of our service users and co-design our projects with them, ensuring our approach is both responsive and effective. We value innovation, which is why we’ve pioneered the cash-first approach to support individuals in crisis and provide them with agency over their financial decisions.
We’re driven by the belief that by working together with local partners, businesses, and the community, we can make a lasting impact in reducing poverty and providing people with the tools to build a better future.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At North Paddington Foodbank (NPFB), we are deeply committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in every aspect of our work. We believe that a diverse and inclusive environment not only enriches our team but also enhances the quality of support we provide to the communities we serve.
Our approach is rooted in fairness, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves equal opportunities. We actively challenge discrimination, whether based on race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, age, or any other characteristic, both within our workforce and in the services we provide.
We strive to create a welcoming and supportive workplace where all employees, volunteers, and service users feel valued and respected. Our recruitment, retention, and professional development practices are designed to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to succeed based on their skills and potential, not on their background.
We continuously assess our policies and practices to promote a culture of inclusivity and equity, ensuring that we represent the communities we serve and foster an environment where diverse perspectives are heard and valued. At NPFB, we believe that embracing diversity makes us stronger, more innovative, and better equipped to tackle poverty and inequality.
