About us
Who we are
For 30 years, Photofusion has supported and celebrated photography and photographers. Our mission is to be a photographic hub where anyone can find opportunity, expertise, encouragement, and community; a home for the makers. We are one of the UK’s largest photography hubs and offer just about every facility, service and opportunity anyone interested in photography could need. We support adults and young people to express their creativity through photography, focusing our charitable objectives particularly on Lambeth residents and our local Brixton community, as well as delivering on nationwide projects with strategic partners where applicable to our mission.
Our culture and values
We have darkrooms, film processing, scanning, digital printing, a photo studio, and a photographic gallery. We also offer mentoring, peer review, workshops, courses, and an education programme in collaboration with Lambeth Adult Learning, alongside a host of other opportunities to ensure that people from every walk of life can express themselves confidently through photography. We seek to provide genuine opportunities for artists to make and exhibit ambitious work that asks important questions. As an organisation, we are also seen as a source of expertise, ranging from technical processes to collaborative and socially engaged practices, to project development and curation.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At Photofusion, we are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in everything we do. We believe photography and visual image making should be open to everyone and that a truly representative cultural sector must reflect the full diversity of the communities it serves.
We actively work to remove barriers to participation by offering accessible, affordable and welcoming programmes, facilities and opportunities, particularly for people who are underrepresented or face social and economic disadvantage. Our exhibitions, education programmes and artist support prioritise a wide range of voices, perspectives and lived experiences.
We strive to create a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for our staff, freelancers, artists, participants and audiences, where everyone is treated with dignity and fairness. We are committed to challenging discrimination and inequality, and to continually learning, listening and improving our practice through consultation, feedback and monitoring.
Equality, diversity and inclusion are not separate from our mission; they are central to how we work, who we work with, and why we exist.
