About us
Who we are
The Rio Ferdinand Foundation creates opportunities for young people, starting with their passions. Alongside our youth workers, they build the confidence and skills to take their next steps into education, employment and beyond.
Founded by Rio Ferdinand in 2012, we use youth culture as a starting point for connection and opportunity. Our work spans sport, music, fashion, media, digital and the creative industries, alongside education, training, employability, leadership and personal development. Sport remains an important part of our heritage, but we're much more than a football charity.
We start with what young people bring — their strengths, interests and passions — and build from there. Through trusted relationships, meaningful experiences and connections to employers and industries, we create opportunities that can grow and evolve alongside young people's ambitions.
Collaboration is central to how we work. We bring together young people, communities, employers, brands and partners to create opportunities and more accessible pathways that no single organisation could create alone. Our partnerships include globally recognised organisations across sport, music, fashion, media and entertainment, connecting young people with industries, expertise, networks and experiences that can otherwise be difficult to access.
Since 2012, we've supported more than 15,000 young people, and our work continues to evolve as young people and youth culture do.
