About us
Who we are
Running Mammals Ltd is a mental health tech initiative dedicated to nurturing emotional well-being through creativity, connection, and care.
We’re building a digital space ROOTED where users – especially young people – can express how they feel, grow emotional awareness, and find comfort through playful, thoughtful interactions with AI and community-inspired features.
Rooted blends psychology, design, and technology to support early intervention and help people feel more seen, safe, and supported.
Currently in development, Rooted is backed by a diverse, cross-disciplinary team of mental health researchers, creative technologists, and social impact practitioners. We are based in the UK and collaborate globally.
Our culture and values
At Running Mammals, we care deeply about how we work, not just what we build. We value:
-
Empathy before ego – We listen, reflect, and design with people at the centre.
-
Playfulness with purpose – We believe joy and healing can co-exist.
-
Curiosity – We ask questions, experiment boldly, and learn from every mistake.
-
Integrity – We honour lived experience and protect the trust placed in us.
-
Co-creation – We work across disciplines, cultures, and communities.
Whether you’re here for a short volunteer stint or long-term involvement, we treat everyone as a co-creator. ROOTED is a space where ideas are welcomed, voices are heard, and contributions are recognised.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Running Mammals is committed to building a team and a product that reflects the richness of human experience.
We strive to create a culture of equity, psychological safety, and mutual respect, where individuals of all backgrounds feel valued and empowered.
We particularly welcome and encourage applications from:
-
People with lived experience of mental health challenges
-
Neurodivergent individuals
-
Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic communities
-
LGBTQIA+ candidates
-
Disabled candidates
ROOTED does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. All opportunities – whether paid or voluntary – are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and shaped with flexibility in mind.
We are learning every day and are open to feedback. Inclusion is not a policy for us – it’s a practice.
