Our Impact
SheCanDo has reached over 16,000 girls and 1,200 women across Nigeria with practical training, digital tools, and leadership opportunities. Our programs help girls discover new career paths in tech and leadership, and support women to grow businesses through digital grants and skills training.
Through our school workshops, we’ve introduced young girls to roles in STEM, sparking interest in areas they had little exposure to before. Our Digital Grant Program has helped women-led businesses build websites and improve their online presence, leading to increased income and independence.
We work with a team of over 400 trained volunteers across 12 states who deliver our programs in local communities. This grassroots approach allows us to reach deeper and adapt to local needs.
Our culture and values
Issues We Are Tackling
- Empowering Female Innovators and Inventors
SheCanDo seeks to cultivate a culture where women and girls are encouraged and supported to become innovators and inventors. We challenge the norms that traditionally restrict women from pursuing STEM fields and entrepreneurship, providing them with the resources and mentorship needed to turn ideas into impactful solutions. - Developing Future Change-Makers and Impact Leaders
We are committed to developing the leadership potential of women and girls by providing them with opportunities to lead, make decisions, and create change within their communities. We address the underrepresentation of women in leadership by nurturing their ability to be influential leaders and advocates for social justice.
- Challenging Gender Stereotypes: SheCanDo continues to dismantle harmful gender stereotypes that limit the potential of women and girls. By advocating for a society where individuals are valued for their abilities and aspirations, we encourage women to break free from societal expectations and define their paths.
- Enhancing Career Aspirations and Opportunities: We work to expand career horizons for women by promoting diverse career paths and providing the support necessary for women to excel in leadership roles, entrepreneurship, and non-traditional fields. SheCanDo addresses the structural and cultural barriers that have historically limited women's professional aspirations.
- Promoting Gender-Equitable Workplaces: SheCanDo strives to create workplaces that are not only inclusive but also empower women to thrive. We advocate for policies that close the gender pay gap, eliminate discrimination, and promote a work environment where women can ascend to leadership roles without facing bias or prejudice.
- Eliminating Gender-Based Violence: Committed to ending all forms of violence against women, SheCanDo advocates for safe spaces, raises awareness, and supports initiatives that protect women from gender-based violence, ensuring they can live and work in environments free from fear and oppression.
- Championing Financial Independence for Women: We aim to empower women, especially those in marginalized communities, to achieve financial independence. Through education, entrepreneurship support, and financial literacy programs, SheCanDo helps women break the cycle of poverty and become economically self-sufficient.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion Policy
At SheCanDo, we are committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where everyone, regardless of background, identity, or ability, feels valued, respected, and empowered.
We believe that true social impact is only possible when all voices are heard and all individuals are treated with fairness and dignity. Our approach to EDI includes:
Fair Recruitment
We ensure equal opportunities throughout our hiring process by using inclusive language in job descriptions, anonymizing applications where possible, and selecting candidates based on skills and potential rather than background or connections.
Zero Tolerance for Discrimination
We have a zero-tolerance policy for any form of discrimination, harassment, or bias. This includes, but is not limited to, discrimination based on gender, race, age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic status.
Inclusive Culture
We actively foster a culture that celebrates diversity and encourages open dialogue, learning, and mutual respect. We value team members from different walks of life and empower them to contribute meaningfully to our mission.
Monitoring and Improvement
We use anonymous equality monitoring tools to assess and improve our practices, ensuring our workforce and community engagement are as inclusive as possible.
Through these efforts, SheCanDo remains committed to ensuring fairness, accessibility, and dignity for all who work with us or benefit from our programs.
