About us

Who we are

Shropshire Support Refugees (SSR) is a small charity with a huge heart.

SSR was established in 2016 to bring relief and support to vulnerable families displaced by unrest in their home countries relocating to Shropshire.

Throughout the years SSR has grown and evolved to encompass a range of services from collecting and distributing donations to full on wrap around integration support and more recently immigration advice.

Our Mission

  • To support and nurture the independence of all those we support

  • To nurture understanding, tolerance, acceptance, inclusion and appreciation of sanctuary seekers and all they contribute within the local community

  • To work collaboratively with other services and organisations both locally and regionally to support those who are seeking sanctuary in Shropshire and Telford

  • To maintain Shropshire Supports Refugees as a professional resettlement and migration service supporting marginalised migrants throughout the county

Our Values

  • Dignity and respect for all, including service users, staff, volunteers, local community members, and partners with whom we work and recognition that service users are experts in their own lives and in what they need to flourish in the UK and to become contributing, settled community members.

  • Enabling Listening- to our service users to understand their needs and supporting local community members to hear and understand those who seek sanctuary

  • Integrity, professionalism and confidentiality – to provide the best service we can to welcome, understand and meet the needs of sanctuary seekers with integrity to provide an inclusive and caring environment where families and individuals resettling in Shropshire and Telford are welcomed and valued
