About us
Who we are
Hi! We’re St Mary’s, a vibrant and welcoming church community based in Marylebone, one of the most culturally diverse parts of London. We seek to be a home for people from all walks of life and welcome diversity of culture, ethnicity, sexuality and socioeconomic background. We aim to be a church that’s irreligious (believing that our Christian faith is just that; a faith relationship, not a religion!), has lots of fun together and passionately pursues Jesus.
In addition to serving as a place of worship, it boasts a thriving Grade I listed events venue, hosting an average of two-to-three events per week. The venue accommodates a diverse range of events, including conferences, charity events, fashion shows, book launches and wine tastings.
Our culture and values
We value four things above all: the first is an intelligent approach to the explanation of what we believe, the second is a church life that is characterised by the power and direction of the Spirit, the third is we are on a journey to become genuinely diverse and are guided in this by a team called Jigsaw. Finally, we include all people irrespective of sexual identity.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Inclusion at St Mary’s is a living commitment to recognising everyone’s dignity and ensuring they can fully participate in church life. We celebrate diversity across ethnicity, ability, gender, sexual identity, and life stage. Our congregation includes LGBTQ+ members in leadership roles, regular events, and theological learning alongside the wider church. Safeguarding is integral to this commitment, with robust policies, trained staff, and clear procedures to protect all—especially children and vulnerable adults. We welcome applications from under-represented communities and operate with transparency and grace, aware we’re on a journey and ready to grow together.
