Streets of Growth are a frontline community engagement organisation, specialising in transitional leadership development and neighbourhood regeneration with young people aged 12-22 years. We have won local and nationwide recognition for our creative adaptability and innovative approaches for transforming the lives of some of the most disengaged disenfranchised young communities, helping them to lead and live self-sufficiently and out of harm’s way.
We work intensively with high-risk young people who for whatever reason, are struggling to engage at school and/or are displaying negative and risky behaviour, by supporting and coaching to re-engage, achieve educational attainment and so gain socioeconomic independence. We also provide less intensive services for young people who are far more stable and yet, still require lower level support for sustaining their progression.
We also work closely with families as part of intervention work with high risk young people and have co working partnerships with local Safer Neighbourhood Police Teams, local schools, Youth and Community Services, other youth providers, local business and social enterprise partners and other community service providers.
In 2009, we were awarded Best ‘grass roots’ Community Organisation for Contributions to Community Safety 2009 by Tower Hamlets Council. In 2010 we were awarded Winner of the best Cycling initiative for our work with young people by the London Cycle Campaign (funded by TFL). Our success has been attributed to our creative adaptability, consistent intensive engagement, and our willingness to venture beyond the ‘familiar’ when advancing the boundaries of Youth and Community-led Regeneration.
