About us
Who we are
In the UK, the street you grow up on can determine your whole future. And sadly, many children from poorer communities fall behind before they even start primary school. This achievement gap widens throughout a child's life. It has an effect on their future earnings, mental and physical health and even life expectancy. At Teach First we believe that where you come from shouldn't matter. And we are working in partnership with others to ensure that no child's educational success is limited by their socio-economic background. We recruit, train and support brilliant people to teach in schools where more than half the pupils come from the poorest homes in the UK. These teachers change lives by raising children's aspirations and giving them the tools they need to aim for a brighter future. You can find out more about our charity at teachfirst.org.uk.
Our culture and values
Our work takes us where the challenge is greatest, and so does our culture.
That’s where our values come in. They underpin our culture and identify and inform everything we do as we work together to rewrite the future for children facing disadvantage.
Purpose: Ending educational disadvantage guides us.
We stay focused on our mission and strive to get better every day.
Community: We are a movement for change.
Together we are stronger, we support and learn from one another, working with and through the diverse communities we serve.
Bravery: Change requires courage.
We take bold risks and aren’t afraid to try, fail and learn in pursuit of our vision.
Innovation: We will succeed through new ideas.
We are restless for impact and creative with our solutions.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Diversity and inclusion: We want to be a place where everyone can perform, learn and contribute with the confidence to be themselves. We are passionate about building a work force that reflects the community we serve, and our employees are expected to contribute to advancing diversity and inclusion within the charity
