Who we are
Teign Heritage Centre has an extensive collection of historical artifacts and documents going back several hundred years. The collection includes salvage from a 16 century, probably Spanish, vessel wrecked off the shore of Teignmouth and documents as well as artifacts relating to the French invasion and sacking of Teignmouth in 1690. More contemporary exhibits include historical records and artifacts of Teignmouth as ship building location and extensive documentation and photographs of Teignmouth's infamous Donald Crowhurst. The Centre takes pride in its Education programmes which apart from frequent themed exhibitions include school re-enactment days covering victorian classrooms, war evacuated children, Old and new Teignmouth as a seaside town and many others. Our volunteers are passionate about keeping the history and stories of the seaside towns and villages we live in alive. Several volunteer in our archive section supporting research of the rich heritage of documents and artifacts in the Centre holds.
