About us
Who we are
We were founded in memory of Cheryl King, an inspiring musician and teacher who believed that every child had a right to play an instrument. We fund individual and group music lessons for children and young people in Surrey whose families would not otherwise be able to afford them. We cover all the genres - rock, pop, jazz and classical and also work with partners to fund music ensembles in Surrey schools which have a high proportion of Pupil Premium. We work closely with Surrey Arts but applicants may also apply directly via our website.
Our culture and values
We believe that every child should have the opportunity to play a musical instrument, regardless of their family's financial circumstances. We have four unpaid Trustees and a number of volunteers all of whom have some experience of music as professionals or amateurs and who belief passionately in our aims. We have a committee meeting in Guildford every two months or so and in between, members of the team may be asked to give a talk or rattle a bucket at a fundraising event. Other than that work is done from home.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We are a small friendly team and delighted to meet anyone who shares our beliefs and can contribute to our aims, regardless of any differences. Indeed we would welcome applicants able to bring a different perspective to what we do. .
