Who we are
People Matter is a Christian‑founded charity (1997) that equips disadvantaged adults in Eastbourne and surrounding areas with the skills, confidence and personalised support they need to move into meaningful, fairly paid work as a sustainable route out of poverty. In 2024 we achieved Matrix Accreditation for the eighth time and were praised for our ‘highly qualified, compassionate team’ of staff and volunteers whose personalised support not only expanded clients’ opportunities but lifted their spirits. In 2022 we were awarded the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service.

Our ethos is built on the belief that meaningful work is central to human dignity and community health. Our approach goes beyond just "finding a job" to focus on the long-term restoration of an individual’s confidence and sense of purpose.

Our Mission is to provide employability services through tailored career information, advice, guidance, practical support, and encouragement to jobseekers, whether they are currently in work or are seeking employment or training opportunities.
