About us

Who we are

The Project started in 1991 as South Birmingham Young Homeless Project and is based in South Birmingham.  The Project provides support to people in Warwick and Birmingham to prevent homelessness and to maximise income.  We are one of 9 Advice Quality Standard accredited organisations in Birmingham and have AQS for advice and casework in 6 areas.  We are also members of agencies such as Advice UK, Institute of Money Advisors and are registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.  The Project is generally grant funded and our current funding enables us to deliver the following services:

· Homelessness prevention to young people 16-25 in Northfield

· Financial inclusion services to people accessing B30 Foodbank and Warwick district foodbanks as well as various grants that enable us to provide income maximization services to people over the age of 50, people with mental health and families across Northfield and Selly Oak.

We are a friendly and flexible team and as an organization we take care of our employees.  At The Project, employees are encouraged to learn, develop, be creative, to work as part of a team and also to manage workloads in a supportive environment.

Our culture and values

The Project is a place where people enjoy what they do and feel passionate about the work that they undertake.  We are friendly and we are flexible to the needs of clients and employees.  We might be small but we have worked in our communities for over 35 years providing much needed services and we continue to grow.  As a small charity, we are adaptable, creative and trusted by partners and community members. We believe in providing the right advice first time and often are thanked for "going over and above".  Our employees are well trained, well supported and are cared for.  We might be small, but we make a really important impact to the lives of people that we work with and we pride ourselves on making sure that we provide the right, quality assured advice first time and that people are treated with dignity and respect.
