About us
Who we are
We provide homes for older women in housing need, and we support them to live independently. We reduce loneliness and isolation by fostering a supportive community spirit.
We're building! We have a vision to relocate the Sheppard Trust to modern, purpose-built homes where we can house more residents and offer accessible homes where our residents can age in place and access care and support as they need it. We'll be opening 82 Hurst Road, near Hampton Court village in Surrey, in the summer of 2026.
Our culture and values
We are a small friendly team who value everyone's role and talents - we "muck in" together to create the best for our residents. There's something special and quirky about the Trust and we always need to balance organisational skills with kindness and understanding.
At the moment we are hybrid working with regular visits to see our residents. As our organisation goes through a period of major change, we all need to be flexible to meet the changing demands, and the charity returns this with flexibility too. We communicate well as a team and we allow people to be autonomous and proactive.
We're passionate about our safeguarding and health and safety - we set ourselves high standards and want the best for our residents.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
We have a strong committment to equality and diversity. We're a really small team so in practice we take a personalised and individual approach so that everyone can perform at their best.
