About us

Who we are

Time & Talents is a lively, busy community organisation based in Rotherhithe, Canada Water and Bermondsey.

We have a history stretching back 137 years. Since day one we’ve been supporting local people of all ages, and bringing people together for mutual support, fun and friendship. With a wide range of activities at our centres, along with volunteering and schools’ outreach projects across local neighbourhoods, we work to help everyone feel part of a community.

Our culture and values

We see a core part of our work as providing ways for people to connect and share their time and talents, including a wide range of volunteering opportunities, skills-sharing, and opportunities to socialise. We want to connect neighbours close and far, to reduce isolation and build a supportive, resilient community.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Time & Talents is committed to using policies, strategies, processes and behaviours that promote equity and contribute to an inclusive organisational culture. We recognise, value and encourage diversity. We acknowledge the multi-cultural and diverse nature of UK society. We aim to provide a space in which everyone who participates feels safe and included.

Our commitment to equity and inclusion includes our recruitment and selection processes which are designed to help ensure there is no unjust discrimination on the grounds of age; disability, health or HIV/AIDS status; gender including transgender and intersex; marital status including civil partnership; political opinion; race and ethnicity; religion and belief; sexual orientation; spent convictions; socio-economic background; trade union activity or membership; having or not having children or other dependants; work pattern or any other irrelevant grounds.

We will make reasonable adjustments to our working arrangements, policies and practices that enable disabled people to take up employment with us, provide us with services and participate in our projects, programmes, events and other activities. Further details about reasonable workplace adjustments can be found in our Employee Handbook. We are committed to treating our staff, service users and volunteers with dignity and respect based on our commitment to EDI for their benefit and to earn and warrant their respect and confidence. We recognise that equity and inclusion are best achieved by renewing our commitment daily throughout the organisation. We also recognise that people may experience multiple and intersecting forms of disadvantage, and we will take this into account in decision‑making, service design and support.

As an employer, T&T is committed to principles of fairness and mutual respect where everyone accepts the concept of individual responsibility. It is therefore the responsibility of each employee to observe and adhere to this policy at all times. We view any breach seriously. We will investigate and potentially take disciplinary action. This may include dismissal in instances we consider gross misconduct.
