About us
Who we are
We are currently recruiting volunteer mentors to work with young adult offenders at HMP Rochester, HMP/YOI Aylesbury, HMP Brinsford, HMP/YOI ISIS and HMP Wandsworth.
You will work closely with young adult offenders (aged 18-30) to engage and motivate them, provide advice and guidance and help them to achieve positive change.
This is a unique opportunity to help a young person break the cycle of re-offending and ultimately help them to achieve their full potential. Mentors work with mentees for up to 6 months whilst in the prison, visiting weekly to develop a rapport, help your mentee to set goals and start working towards them. You will then follow your mentor 'through the gate' and continue mentoring them for up to 9 months in the community. Within this role you will be encouraged to work with a wide range of other agencies within the prison and will be given robust training opportunities to give you an insight into the sector and environment we work in.
Mentees will meet mentors at the HMP of their choice for the first 3-6 months and then in the community when the offenders is released from prison. Offenders are released to all parts of the UK but usually not too far from the prison they are currently in and mentors can meet with them in any public place that is mutually convenient for both mentor and mentee.
