Who we are

Unlock YOUR Potential is a volunteer‑led movement dedicated to empowering adults aged 18–67 who face barriers to employment, education, and wellbeing. Rooted in trauma‑informed practice, care, and community, we deliver holistic programmes that blend practical skills with emotional support, mentoring, and wellbeing.

We exist because too many people feel unseen, unsupported, and stuck. Our mission is to restore confidence, dignity, and opportunity — one person at a time.

2. OUR Story & Why WE Exist

Unlock YOUR Potential was founded by a team of experienced employability and community work professionals who have worked across Jobcentre Plus, Ingeus, the RESTART Programme, Shaw Trust, and other national providers. While we’ve helped thousands into work, we’ve also seen what’s missing: human connection.

Too often, services are transactional, target-driven, and impersonal. People are treated as numbers, not individuals. Confidence is overlooked. Trauma is unspoken. Potential is left untapped.

We created Unlock YOUR Potential to change that. We are 100% volunteer-led and built on the belief that care, nurture, and dignity must be at the heart of employability and life support. Our programmes combine practical skills with emotional support, mentoring, and wellbeing — delivered by people who lead with empathy and lived experience.

3. THE Need

We are launching in Newham and Tower Hamlets, two of the most deprived boroughs in England:

• Newham ranks 6th most deprived nationally (IMD 2025), with 8.2% unemployment and 1 in 4 adults lacking qualifications.
• Tower Hamlets ranks 3rd most deprived, with high economic inactivity, digital exclusion, and mental health needs — especially among BAME communities.

Across both boroughs, adults face:

• Long-term unemployment and low confidence.
• Poor mental health and social isolation.
• Low digital and life skills.
• Limited access to trauma-informed, person-centred support.

Despite existing services, many adults feel unseen, unsupported, and stuck. We are here to change that.
