About us
Who we are
Vauxhall City Farm – a registered charity (no. 281512) – is one of London’s oldest and most central city farms. From our unique site, including a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC), we provide free access to nature, animals, and opportunity to more than 60,000 visitors each year.
We provide life-changing opportunities through targeted programmes for young people (including those in or outside
of the formal school system), refugees and asylum seekers, those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND),
LGBTQ+ groups, those living in areas of deprivation and global majority communities.
Our culture and values
We exist to create access to nature, animals, wellbeing and learning for everyone in our local community, with a particular focus on children, families and those facing challenges. We do this by:
Empowering individuals: Supporting disadvantaged and disabled people to boost their confidence and aspirations by providing a safe and accessible space for all and target specific communities.
Promoting wellbeing: Providing free entry and enhancing emotional, mental, social, and physical wellbeing through outdoors education programmes, gardening, animal care, and community groups.
Improving environmental stewardship: Connecting city people to nature, sharing skills and knowledge about animals and developing our community’s sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Strengthening community cohesion: Engaging and including local communities, strengthening community bonds and acting as a safe and accessible space. Combating social isolation by providing a welcoming space where people from all
backgrounds can come together.
Fostering enjoyment and learning: Creating enjoyment and respite for the public through time with animals and farmyard activities in the heart of London.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
Vauxhall City Farm is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We are wholeheartedly committed to eliminating all forms of discrimination, be it based on race, class, sex, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, religious belief or age, through:
1) Its provision of services to the community
2) Its employment policies and practices
Our equal opportunities policy is actively encouraged throughout the Organisation, and we are committed to employing the right people and skills for the job, and to providing equal opportunities to all employees.
