About us

Who we are

Walking Mum’s Club is a Manchester-based Community Interest Company (CIC) supporting parents through pregnancy, postnatal life and beyond.

We run free, local walking groups led by parents, for parents — helping mums connect and feel supported.  Our work is grounded in improving mental, physical and social wellbeing in a way that’s accessible, flexible and rooted in community.

Alongside our regular walks, we host monthly Walk & Talk events with guest speakers including midwives, physios and mental health practitioners — bringing trusted advice and real-life support right into the heart of the community.

Since launching, we’ve supported over 1,500 parents and trained a growing team of volunteer Mama Leaders to lead walks in their own neighbourhoods. We work closely with health visitors, midwives and local partners to reach families who need us most — especially those facing isolation, discrimination, or poor mental health.

We’re grassroots, growing fast, and grounded in lived experience.

Our culture and values

Parent-led – created by a mum, run by mums, for mums.
Warm & Welcoming – everyone is met with kindness, no matter their background or story.
Grounded in Lived Experience – we understand isolation, the physical and mental impact of parenthood and support eachother through listening and advice.
Inclusive & Community-Focused – we celebrate difference and work actively to reach underrepresented parents.
Purposeful & Impact-Driven – everything we do is about improving mental, physical and social wellbeing for parents who need it most.
Flexible & Real-Life Friendly – we build roles, walks and programmes that work around parenting, not against it.

We’re growing from the ground up — and we’re looking for people who want to grow with us.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

At Walking Mum’s Club, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for all parents — regardless of their background, identity or circumstances.

We know that not all parents have the same experience of pregnancy, birth or early parenthood. Structural inequalities, discrimination, and lack of culturally appropriate support can leave many parents feeling isolated or unseen. That’s why inclusion isn’t an add-on for us — it’s built into everything we do.

We actively work to ensure our walks, programmes and roles are accessible to:

  • Parents from ethnically and culturally diverse backgrounds

  • LGBTQ+ parents

  • Disabled parents and those with health conditions

  • Parents living on low incomes or facing financial hardship

  • Parents experiencing mental health challenges

We are proud to be a parent-led organisation — but we know that representation and lived experience must be backed up by ongoing learning and action.

We are committed to:
Ensuring our Mama Leaders reflect the communities we serve
Removing barriers to participation, volunteering and employment
Listening to underrepresented voices and adapting what we do
Challenging discrimination, stigma and exclusion wherever we see it
✔ Providing ongoing training and safeguarding support for our team

We want every parent — and every team member — to feel seen, valued and safe with us.
