About us

Who we are

Wayward and Wayward Plants are two closely connected organisations working at the intersection of landscape, community and environmental sustainability. Wayward is an award-winning design practice working across landscape architecture, placemaking and community-centred design. Our work explores new ways of bringing people and nature together through public spaces, creative engagement and the transformation of underused land. We are pioneers in the creative use of meanwhile spaces, including Cultivate Colindale, our 4,000 m² green space hub for community, culture and the circular economy in north London. Wayward Plants grew out of this practice as a pioneering circular economy initiative that rescues plants, trees and landscape materials that would otherwise go to waste and redistributes them to communities that need them most. As the Official Reuse Partner of the RHS, we've rehomed more than 100,000 mature plants and trees through our network of nearly 2,000 community groups, schools and growing initiatives across London. We're now establishing Wayward Plants as an independent charity, building on more than a decade of work to develop the infrastructure for large-scale landscape reuse, widen access to nature and expand our impact.

Our culture and values

We're a small, ambitious and collaborative team working across design, environmental sustainability, creative reuse and community-led initiatives. We believe in finding new possibilities in overlooked places and resources, challenging conventional approaches to waste and creating opportunities for more people to access nature and green spaces. We value curiosity, creativity, resourcefulness, generosity and collaboration. Our work often crosses disciplines and brings together people with different experiences, perspectives and skills. We enjoy experimenting, solving problems and finding practical ways to turn ambitious ideas into reality. As our organisations grow, we're keen to work with people who are excited by what we're building, bring their own ideas and expertise, and enjoy being part of a small team where everyone can make a meaningful contribution.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Wayward and Wayward Plants are committed to creating inclusive, welcoming and accessible working environments where people from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are valued and respected. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are committed to fair and equitable recruitment practices. We recognise that different experiences and perspectives strengthen our organisations and the communities we work with. We aim to remove barriers to participation wherever possible and encourage applicants to let us know if they require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process.
