About us

Who we are

For 30 years, XLP has helped thousands of young people to live more fulfilled lives each year by seeing what society doesn’t - who they really are and everything they can be.

Many of the young people we work with face tough realities like family breakdown, barriers to meaningful employment, and a risk of exclusion from education, as well as growing up in places where violence and fear can feel normal. These pressures can limit confidence and make hope feel out of reach.

That’s why at XLP we walk alongside young people to help them to discover their positive futures. We help them stay in education and find routes into employment and training. We build the kind of long-term relationships that restore trust and we remind them that change is possible. We encourage them to see their worth, set their own goals, and take the lead in shaping a future that belongs to them.

Our culture and values

Our values:

1. We put young people first

2. We believe in working for the long term

3. We strive for excellence

4. We work together well

5. We are rooted in Christ

These are the values that shape our community and drive our effectiveness. Candidates are required to support, uphold and sustain these values.

We are "faith-based, but not faith-biased," working with young people of all faiths and none. We are guided by the Christian values of love, compassion, and helping others that come from Jesus’ life and teachings. We use these principles to make a real difference in our communities.

Our staff team is dedicated to growing in diversity and inclusion, aiming to reflect the communities we serve. We welcome applications from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and genders. We strongly encourage applications from all underrepresented communities, with a particular emphasis on females and those representative of the specific communities XLP supports.

We are proud to be an employer that puts Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at the core of all that we do, for the benefit of our employees and volunteers, our partners, and the communities that we work with.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

At XLP we are committed to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for our staff, our volunteers, the young people, and the communities we work in. We believe stronger communities are built when everyone belongs and is heard, and has a fair chance to access opportunities.

XLP stands firmly against discrimination and racism in all its forms. We aim to create spaces where difference is celebrated and belonging is purposeful. Our strengths come from a diversity of experiences, backgrounds and voices that shape who we are.

We work in London where we see systems of discrimination and inequality at work. We are determined to play our part in changing that by listening to lived experiences, learning from each other and taking action.

We are building a culture and community which is just and fair, where everyone is treated with respect. We’re determined to do better every day – to keep learning, listening and taking action. Everyone is welcome to be a part of it.
