About us
Who we are
YMCA London City and North is an independent charity affiliated to the YMCA movement. We work across some of London's most deprived boroughs in Islington, Haringey, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Barnet and Hackney as well as the City of London. Over 600,000 young people call our patch of London home.
Young people are at the centre of all we do. Our vision is of a society where young people thrive. We collaborate with young people and their communities, using our rich heritage to create pathways, so they make informed and supported choices
We provide quality homes for homeless experienced young people to engage and move on to independence. We offer safe and inclusive spaces where young people belong. We drive a vision for London that prioritises young people and their communities. And we are sustainable and innovative with our people, our culture and our assets.
Over 150 years we have helped tens of thousands of young people. Today, on any single night, we accommodate nearly 400 who have a lived experienced of homelessness. We positively impact the lives of thousands more every year though our youth programmes.
Our core values include mutual respect for individuals with different cultures, beliefs, and perspectives; encompassing diversity and inclusion; equality of opportunities and accessibility. We remain committed to safeguarding - promoting the welfare of children and young people at risk – in an organisational that is mindful of our Christian heritage. Everyone working with us is expected to respect this foundation and to work in line with our safer working practice.
