About us
Who we are
Action around Bethlehem Children with Disability is a UK based charity that has been working in the West Bank for over 30 years. Our main aim is to support the non-discriminatory delivery of accessible, high calibre rehabilitation for every child with disabilities and support for their family.
We:
· champion the provision of holistic rehabilitation at a grassroots level delivered through local organisations that already exist (such as UNWRA health centres)
· empower Palestinian therapists, supporting their professional development to enhance their theoretical teaching with hands on training
· guide the management of these centres to become self-sufficient in the long run
· work with local communities educating about disabilities and offering support in schools to help break down taboos about disabilities, nurturing a generation a-tuned to accessibility and inclusivity.
We currently have 5 main partners: the Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation, Nur Shams, Jalazone and Al Arroub Refugee Camp Rehabilitation Centres, and The Sheepfold in Beit Sahour.
ABCD is a small, tight-knit team comprising of a Chair, ten Trustees and and an Administrator who meet for quarterly meetings in London.
