About us

Who we are

Arts 4 Dementia works with arts organisations to create outsanding, inspirational workshops across art forms for people in the early stages of dementia and those who care for them.  We train the arts organisations' teams, we recruit participants and deliver 8-10 week "seed initiative" programmes with them, which they then may continue without our further involvement.

We also train arts facilitators from across the UK in Early Stage Dementia Awareness and show them how to deliver challenging, person-centred workshops - the 700+ trained to date will reach over 14,000 people affected by dementia this year. And we signpost thousands of stimulating arts workshops and events for people living with dementia in the community around the country, so that those newly facing the shock of a diagnosis of dementia can find opportunities nearby.

When people may be feeling useless because of their diagnosis, we aim to inspire them with their own creativity; and inspiring and giving some joy to those who care for them is equally important.

Our vision is that anyone, any family affected by dementia should have stimulating arts opportunities nearby and be able easily to find them. Our mission is to work with arts organisations and independent facilitators to make this happen.

Training and workshop partners have included Arcola Theatre, Barbican Centre, British Museum, English National Ballet, Garden Museum, Geoffrey Museum, Imperial War Museum, London Transport Museum, National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, Natural History Museum, Royal Court, Royal Opera House, Shakespeare’s Globe and Southbank Centre.
