Who we are
Bags of Taste supports people with multiple disadvantages by giving them help and practical support to buy and cook healthy and affordable food. We deliver an ingredients bag with basic equipment and recipes to people’s homes. Many of the people we support are challenged by poverty or ill-health. Outcomes mean people have improved physical and mental health, better diets, more independence and control about food and can make significant financial savings for good.
Our Food Resilience programme is high impact and evidence based. The model of delivery unique - it's delivered in people's homes and led by experienced volunteer mentors. 80% are experienced nutritionists or food teachers. We're successfully people who struggle to attend community activities due to being a single parent, being a carer or having an illness or disability. The at home model is inclusive, accessible and flexible and reaches those who are often overlooked or excluded.

Since 2014, we’ve empowered and inspired 60,000 people to improve their health, diets and finances for good and now work across 21 locations. We provide resilience for people for the long term.
We’ve won awards which include the UK's Food and Drink Federation's 'Community Partner of theYear' 2019 award and the global .ORG 2019 Impact Award for innovation. We were also runners up in the Observer Food Monthly 2017 and 2019 Best Ethical Food Project. In December 2025, we won Highly Commended at the Personalised Care Awards in London for the Using Our Money Well Award. The judges said that the Bags of Taste programme delivered exceptional social and economic value: 94% of participants report improved diets, and 85% reduced spending on takeaway food — saving an average of £1,300 per household annually.
