With its 12,000 parishes and 16,000 buildings the Church of England is a Christian presence in every community and plays a vital role in the life of the nation. Its network of parishes covers the country, bringing a vital Christian dimension and strengthening community life in numerous urban, suburban and rural settings. From state occasions to rural engagement, cathedrals to food banks, education to public affairs, the Church touches all aspects of life through the work of its lay and ordained leaders and volunteers. The National Church Institutions (NCIs) is the collective name given to the following bodies: The Archbishops’ Council; Bishopthorpe Palace; The Church Commissioners; Church of England Central Services; The Church of England Pensions’ Board; Lambeth Palace; the National Society for Promoting Religious Education; and Trustees of the Lambeth Palace Library.
