About us
Who we are
A truly Cornish charity
In April 2006, the two charities running Mount Edgcumbe Hospice and St Julia’s Hospice formerly merged into the single charity known now as Cornwall Hospice Care, a truly Cornish charity.
The name was chosen to reflect better the breadth of services the charity offers to patients and their families throughout the community of Cornwall, not just at the hospices but also in hospitals and nursing homes and the community itself.
We regularly consider and review our purpose and how our charity works to achieve our goals, identifying the challenges we face and looking to our strengths to help us. This page reflects our purpose, values and ambitions for 2023 to 2028.
Cornwall Hospice Care is a 24/7 Cornish healthcare charity that provides end of life care and support for people with terminal illnesses. This care is provided free of charge at our two hospices – Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell and St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle, in Cornwall’s hospitals, care homes and in the community.
Our clinical staff care for patients and their families, carers and friends at Mount Edgcumbe Hospice in St Austell, St Julia’s Hospice in Hayle and through our Community Services. To help fund this care we also have 30 shops, 4 donation centres and 2 donation points, and a variety of different fundraising activities.
Our staff and volunteers are all ambassadors in our community, spreading the word about the end of life care we provide, care that’s 100% free to our patients and funded by the Cornish community.
