Disability Action Haringey (DAH) was formed in 2020 with the aim of supporting disabled people in the London Borough of Haringey maintain their independence and freedom. We are committed to the social model of disability and building a society that accepts and accommodates everyone.

As a Deaf and Disabled Persons’ Organisation, our services will always be centred on the demands of the service users themselves, which leads us to take a holistic approach to support.

Disability Action Haringey are becoming the voice of the disabled community in Haringey through our members. Join us today and make a difference in getting our voice heard!

Our culture and values

DAH was founded with a clear mission: to uphold the independence and freedom of D/deaf and disabled individuals in Haringey by dismantling barriers and fostering an equitable environment. The organisation pledged to stand as the Voice of the D/deaf and disabled community within Haringey, echoing their hopes, challenges, and victories throughout the borough.

To realise this objective, DAH has championed the Social Model of Disability and the Cultural Model of D/deafness within Haringey. We have taken upon ourselves the task of educating individuals, statutory organisations, and other voluntary and community organisations about these models. By increasing understanding and awareness, we aim to foster an inclusive community that recognises and respects the rights of D/deaf and disabled individuals.

As a Deaf and Disabled Persons’ Organisation, DAH is committed to centring the needs of its service users. We take a holistic approach, recognising the complex interplay of various factors in the lives of our members. Furthermore, we strive to empower them, providing them with the necessary tools to advocate for themselves and take charge of their lives.

Since its inception, DAH has actively championed the rights and needs of the D/deaf and disabled community in Haringey. Through collaboration with the local authority and other community organisations, we have organised and co-produced a range of inclusive services and events that celebrate diversity and promote inclusion.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
