About us

Who we are

Fusion Maidstone Healthy Living Centre opened its doors in 2003, building on the work of the health visitors from the former Mid-Kent Healthcare Trust to improve the health & wellbeing of local people im Park Wood.  The Healthy Living Centre (HLC) initiative was developed via a partnership led by the former primary care trust.  In 2006 Fusion became a registered charity and set about developing programmes, activities and services to address the changing needs of the residents of Park Wood with a strong focus on addressing health inequalities.  Fusion is one of a similar set of organisations across Mid-Kent, Medway and North Kent, each offering bespoke and localised approaches to local health and welfare issues.  HLCs subscribe strongly to the prevention agenda to improve and maintain health and wellbeing/avoid ill health especially in an ageing and growing population. Fusion works closely with the community to develop a clear role as a hub/gateway through which hard to reach members of the community can access a range of services to support their health, wellbeing and prospects either delivered by ourselves or a partner network.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

Fusion Maidstone is committed to a policy of equality in all our employment practices and strives to eliminate unfair discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation.  Fusion Maidstone will not unlawfully, unfairly or unreasonably discriminate or treat individuals less favourably on the grounds of gender reassignement, marital or civill partnership status, pregnancy and maternity, sex or sexual orientation, religion or belief, disability, age, race, nationality or ethnic origin.  Fusion Maidstone does not tolerate the abuse of those who challenge unfair discrimination and hate crimes. Fusion Maidstone has a full Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Policy which is given to all staff and volunteers as part of their induction to the charity.  At the beginning of every group session ground rules are read out which include respecting everyone's opinion, confidentiality, appropriate behaviour, professional boundaries, inclusion and managing expectations.  We actively promote community cohesion and community inclusion and the responsibilities within the community to be inclusive of everyone to help them reach their full potential.
