About us
Who we are
Hands Around The World is at heart a group of people passionate about making a difference to disadvantaged children and families. We have made a focused and long-term commitment to work with our partners in Africa and India to realise their vision of supporting the vulnerable children and young people in their communities.
We are only a small charity, but thanks to the involvement of volunteers, we have a significant reach. Our small group of paid staff works with our volunteer Trustees to set the framework, while our wider network of committed volunteers co-ordinate projects, organise local events and fundraising opportunities and, when possible, travel to our projects overseas to offer support and encouragement to our partners and the children and young people in their care.
We accept that we are limited in how many lives we can help to change. Our aim is to go deeper rather than wider, aiming to make a life-changing difference to individual children and young people. We encourage our partners to find their own solutions, helping them by sourcing funds, providing practical resources, and by sharing the expertise, skills and enthusiasm of well-prepared volunteers.
