London Sinfonietta is the UK’s flagship new music ensemble. We seek place the best contemporary classical music at the heart of today’s culture, engage the public through innovations in music and nurture musical talent. Over the years our commitment to new music has seen us commission over 400 works, and premiere many hundreds more. Our work in talent development, including our Writing the Future and London Sinfonietta Academy schemes, provide platforms to enable young and emerging composers, conductors and performers to make work in new ways. And we inspire young people with the music of today – our schools projects provide a range of opportunities for primary and secondary pupils to learn about and be inspired by new music.
We are a staff team of c. 13, based in Kings Place, Kings Cross (though the team also work remotely) with performances and events across a range of London and UK venues. We want our team to be representative of the communities where we work, encompassing a wide range of different backgrounds and experiences. Though some of our staff are musically trained or have backgrounds in the performing arts, this is by no means necessary for many of the roles in the organisation. We value and appreciate new ideas and perspectives that may help bring the exciting sound world of contemporary classical music to a wider audience.
