About us
Who we are
The Loughborough Junction Action Group is a local volunteer-run social action charity working in Loughborough Junction in south London.
Loughborough Junction is one of London’s secret neighbourhoods often overlooked because it is eclipsed by its better known neighbours Brixton, Herne Hill and Camberwell.
Our mission is to put Loughborough Junction on the map and make it a great place to live and work and there are four pillars to our work: place-making, greening, events and skill sharing.
Over the last three years we have raised nearly £300,000 in grant income and donations all of which has been invested in our neighbourhood and our four main projects: the Loughborough Farm, a community food growing project; the Loughborough Farm Café; the Grove Adventure Playground and the Craft Workshops.
In November we celebrated our tenth anniversary; it was a chance to look back over our achievements which included two street photography projects, one providing a group of young people with a Bronze Arts Award; worked with Lambeth council on the production of the Loughborough Junction Plan and arts-inspired improvements to two of the railway bridges which are such a feature of our area; ran street festivals; health events; planted an orchard; ran training workshops at the Loughborough Farm; and healthy eating workshops at the Farm Cafe
We are now embarking on an ambitious programme to extend the scope of our work and are looking for local people who share our passion for our neighbourhood and who have some time to help us move to the next stage of our development. No particular skills are required, enthusiasm and passion are more important.
We are also looking more broadly for new trustees with the following skills: legal, including charity compliance; book-keeping; events organisation; business and brand development; monitoring and evaluation.
