MASH has supported female sex workers across Greater Manchester for over 25 years. We originally focused on harm-reduction, but our support has developed into a fully holistic package that enables women to take control of their lives and make long-lasting changes. Last year we helped over 700 women.
MASH Caseworkers provide intensive, individual, planned support particularly in relation to substance misuse, homelessness, mental illness, financial difficulties, and the criminal justice system.
We provide a range of support and activities at the MASH Drop-In Centre including; a needle exchange, condom distribution, life skills, hot meals, therapeutic activities, education and counselling.
We provide Street Outreach from the MASH Mobile Drop-In vehicle four evenings a week reaching around 250 women each year. Offering: needle exchange, condoms, safety information and routes into emergency accommodation.
We also employ a nurse who delivers a full sexual health service at the Drop-In Centre and pro-active Sauna Outreach to women working in massage parlours (brothels).
