About us

Who we are

MSDP has been providing support to people with hearing loss in Merseyside since 1864. Our mission is to address the many barriers and inequalities experienced by Deaf People, Deaf-Blind people and the Hard of Hearing and to empower and serve as a ambassadors for change and equality. We believe all people with a hearing loss have the right to achieve a full, active and influencing role in mainstream society. Experts by experience, more than 60% of our staff team are culturally Deaf and British Sign Language (BSL) is our operational language.

We provide specialist services for people who are Deaf and hard of hearing

MSDP provides specialist frontline services in a range of communication methods including British Sign Language (BSL), Signed Specific English (SSE), Deaf-Blind Manual, Deaf-Blind Hands On Signing and International Sign Language.  Our services include; community outreach support, provision of environmental aids, BSL Interpreter bookings, BSL and Deaf Awareness courses and community engagement and actitivities
