About us
Who we are
Mind in Croydon is a leading local mental health charity with a proud history of over 50 years supporting people in Croydon and surrounding areas. We work to improve mental wellbeing, challenge stigma, and ensure everyone experiencing a mental health problem can live a full and independent life. As demand for our services continues to grow, we’re expanding our passionate and dedicated team to reach more people and drive meaningful change in our community.
At Mind in Croydon, we believe that mental health is a human right and that everyone deserves the chance to live well. We offer a wide range of responsive, high-quality, and person-centred services, from counselling and advocacy to social support, welfare advice, and employment services.
We support not only individuals facing mental health challenges, but also their families and carers, helping to build stronger, more connected communities.
Our work is underpinned by our core values of respect, inclusion, empowerment, and compassion. With around 50 staff members and over 100 active volunteers, we are proud to be a growing and inclusive organisation, always evolving to meet the needs of those we serve.

-
Empowerment : we support people to make informed choices and take control of their lives.

We believe in continuous learning and openness to change, encouraging innovation and reflection at all levels of the organisation. Whether you're on the front line or behind the scenes, you'll be part of a culture that prioritises mental wellbeing, for our clients and our staff.
Equality, diversity and inclusion policy
At Mind in Croydon, we are fully committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity, and fostering an inclusive environment for everyone, staff, volunteers, service users, and the wider community. Our approach is rooted in the belief that mental health support should be accessible, fair, and respectful to all, regardless of background or identity.
We actively oppose all forms of discrimination, whether based on age, disability, gender identity, race, ethnicity, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, or any other protected characteristic. Discrimination, harassment, or victimisation have no place in our organisation.
We aim to ensure fairness and inclusivity by:
-
Embedding EDI principles into all areas of our work, from service delivery to recruitment and governance
-
Providing regular training and development to ensure staff and volunteers understand and uphold inclusive practices
-
Ensuring our services are culturally competent, trauma-informed, and responsive to the diverse needs of our local community
-
Collecting and using data to monitor equality outcomes and improve access and representation
-
Creating a safe and respectful workplace culture where individuals feel valued, supported, and able to speak up
Our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion is not a one-off initiative, but an ongoing responsibility. We continuously listen, learn, and adapt to ensure our organisation remains a welcoming and empowering space for all.
