Mission Direct

Who we are

Mission Direct is a Christian charity, formed in 2004, that takes volunteers on two-week mission trips to 11 countries, working in partnership with local churches, charitable organisations or other welfare groups to build social and welfare infrastructure (schools, medical facilities, safe accommodation and homes) for the materially poor. In 2017, Mission Direct also started to support projects in the UK, taking volunteers on 3-day outreach teams to renovate and refurbish properties and gardens for the socially marginalised and vulnerable. Since its formation, Mission Direct has arranged mission trips for more than 3,000 volunteers. 

Here at Mission Direct, we are passionate about helping to bring change through practical faith. We don't own or run anything we help to build; we establish long-term partnerships with organisations and projects out in country that are already doing things to bring about change where they need it, but need a helping hand. Our teams of volunteers help to progress the projects, supporting local builders to provide life-changing facilities. Volunteers also support other community-run projects whilst on mission, such as feeding programmes, home visits, medical and teaching, and street children ministry. They also have a couple of days of R&R to help digest and process their experience whilst seeing some of the country's wonders and history (e.g. safari, Angkor Wat Temple etc.).

Our main office functions are based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, including our CEO, Volunteer Managers, Admin, Logistics, Marketing & Comms, and Regional Managers. Our overseas staff, running the partnerships, projects and volunteer trips in country, are voluntary staff; giving their time, money and energy to do something incredible. Some staff join us for just 2 volunteer teams (1 month in total), some join for a whole campaign (up to 6 volunteer teams) and some stay with us year on year to serve the projects.
