About us
Who we are
Mothers’ Union is a globally flourishing Christian movement of 4 million members in at least 83 countries. Our global nature ensures that our membership is diverse in every sense, yet all are united in faith and share a desire to put that faith into action in service to others.
From small community initiatives to national programmes our aim is to strengthen family life by nurturing relationships that are loving, faithful and respectful. We celebrated our 140th anniversary last year and our mission remains unchanged-our goal is to bring positive change to over one million people a year by 2021.
Our values
Each member subscribes to the same values; the moral and ethical codes that are central to the ways in which we operate.
Firstly, we are firmly rooted in a voluntary ethos centered on mutual respect and collaboration.
Secondly, our governance, leadership, and programmes are driven by and undertaken through members within their own communities worldwide.
Thirdly, we work with people of all faiths and none.
Mothers’ Union is unique. We don’t work alongside communities, we work inside communities. Based in countless Anglican parishes, our work is run by local people for local people. Breaking the cycle of dependency we give people the courage to transform their own lives and communities by facilitating change. We aim to show our Christian faith by the transformation of communities worldwide.
