About us

Who we are

My Cancer My Choices provides complementary therapies, from specialist volunteer therapists, to people living with cancer in Berkshire and beyond.

Complementary therapies aim to help people feel better during their cancer journey. In addition to encouraging relaxation, evidence shows that complementary therapies may also reduce the physical and mental side effects of cancer treatment.

Our therapists, who are experts in their field, offer one to one acupuncture, massage, reiki, reflexology and art therapy appointments.  We also offer group courses virtually and face to face in Mindfulness, Yoga and Tai Chi

We believe everyone with cancer should have access, from diagnosis, to complementary therapies that enhance their wellbeing and keep them in control of their journey

However, it’s not always possible for people with cancer to access complementary therapies. Juggling appointments can be problematic. They may not feel up to it and not all venues or therapists are able to offer treatments to people with cancer.

Our team is vetted to volunteer in the NHS, has satisfied government DBS checks, is approved by Occupational Health and has undergone NHS Cancer Patient pathway training.  They are all volunteers, giving their time and expertise for free.

This amazing team of therapists supported by a team of vlolunteer Meeter Greeters enables us to offer up to 6 free 1-hour sessions to anyone in Berkshire:

• Just diagnosed with cancer

• Undergoing active treatment

• Within 6 months of finishing treatment

Our therapists are trained to know which treatments are safe and appropriate to work alongside  conventional treatment.

If you would like ot join this dynamic, friendly team, dedicated to wellbeing, please don't hesitate to get in touch with us!

Our culture and values

Compassion is at the heart of what we do. Our team is full of people who want to help others by providing complementary therapies. We are there to support people living with cancer and each other.

We recently won the King's Award for Voluntary Service in recognition of the wonderful work our volunteers do, and how our organisation supports those volunteers.

Equality, diversity and inclusion policy

We treat all volunteers, employees and applicants fairly and equally. If you would like to request any adjustments when applying, or require further information, please contact the hiring manager.
