Who we are
New Routes Integration was established in 2003 to address the isolation and lack of social and learning opportunities for asylum seekers in Norwich.
Today, we support resettled asylum seekers, refugees and other isolated migrants of all ages to promote their integration. We offer critical bespoke support to meet our participants’ varying needs: providing housing, immigration, employment, medical, health and wellbeing, financial, employability and educational support. We aim to improve community cohesion and build connections between people of different ages, ethnicities and cultures through practical, creative, skill-building activities that empower our participants.
New Routes is open six days a week providing English classes, dance exercise, IT and craft groups for women, mixed gender English language support workshops and IT and youth and family clubs. We also offer one-to-one mentoring support to adults and young people. We recently established a shop and internet café to support more recently settled refugees with their immediate clothing and housing needs and additional one-to-one support, including financial well-being, volunteering opportunities, CV writing and employment applications support and employability skills workshops. We are commissioned by Norfolk and Waveney NHS, acting as community connectors, consulting with participants on their health and wellbeing needs and reporting back to the NHS in order to develop programmes that support the emerging needs of marginalised communities.
