Oxford Wood Recycling(OWR) is an environmental social enterprise with a strong social ethic. We've tasked ourselves with greening our environment through encouraging the reuse of construction materials, reducing the pressure on virgin timber and promoting local forestry products over imports. We also believe in the social justice of open employment for all, regardless of disability or barriers to working.
That's why we are disability confident employer and why we run an emplyment service aimed at moving people excluded from employment closer to working.
We achieve impact through operating an environmentally friendly charged-for wood waste collection service in Oxfordshire, where we recycle everything except 300 tonnes of wood recovered for reuse. Reuse is sold at The Wood Shed in Abingdon. The Wood Shed is often referred to by customers as an 'Aladdins cave' , and we certainly try to keep things interesting.
Our three year business plan 2020 -2022 takes us closer to realising the full potential of our premises in Abingdon, and provides a pathway towards meeting the internal an external challenges posed by the climate emergency. It also points towards fulfilling our Vision for 2030 :
Inspirational social enterprise Oxford Wood Recycling is a role model for fair and sustainable civil society.
